7 skincare tips for glowing bridal beauty from Millie Mackintosh's facialist
Whether you're preparing for your wedding like Millie Mackintosh or just need to look awesome ahead of a big bash, we have some awesome skin and wellbeing tips for you. Straight from skincare expert Elizabeth Caroline, who's currently helping Millie prepare for her big day, here's everything you need to remember to keep yourself glowing from the inside out.
TIP 1: Most brides suffer with an element of stress leading up to their big day, and it's well known that stress can cause the barrier function of your skin to become impaired, as well as making changes to the lipid levels in the skin. All this can lead to breakouts and hypersensitivity. I always recommend brides schedule some 'down time' in the run-up to the wedding. I suggested to Millie that she try meditation or yoga, to keep her calm and focused, and I'm pleased to say this is something she has incorporated into her schedule.
TIP 2: Skin hydration can be a major factor for brides, so look for products that contain hyaluronic acid, as this helps to lock moisture into the skin.
TIP 3: Place a clear or rose quartz crystal beside your bed at night to induce relaxation and help absorb any electrical frequencies from mobile phones or electrical appliances, which can affect sleep patterns.
TIP 4: Ensure you are exfoliating at least 2-3 times a week with a gentle exfoliator. This helps to boost the skin's natural cell renewal process, keeping it illuminated as well as refining open pores.
TIP 5: Take long walks outside in nature. Trees are amazing natural healers and actually help balance and cleanse the human energy field. This will help reduce stress and anxiety before the big day.
TIP 6: Ensure you have a diet that is rich in antioxidants and vitamins (particularly vitamin A, C and E), and drink plenty of fresh spring water, the most effective internal hydrator. Remember that your diet is directly reflected in your skin.
TIP 7: Frankincense essential oil is fantastic for helping to detoxify the body. Place a few drops in some coconut or almond oil and mix into bath water, then soak yourself for approximately 20 minutes.
