Bruce Jenner Races Lamborghini With Son Brandon After Skin Cancer Surgery
It's been decades sinceBruce Jenner took home the gold medal in the Decathlon at the1976 Montreal Olympics, but that doesn't mean the athlete's lost his need for speed. In fact, the Keeping Up With the Kardashianspatriarch was spotted getting ready to race at the Virginia International Raceway with son Brandon Jenner on Friday, Oct. 4.
"I had heard about it a lot but never had the opportunity to come here," Jenner, 63, told ABC affiliate WSET. His son Brandon, 32, agreed.
"We're just going to go as quickly as we can, try to drive smooth, I'm going to try to keep up with this guy," Brandon said.
The pair was spotted standing around and chatting in full-body racing suits throughout the afternoon.
Other A-list names on hand included Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey, who admitted that he's "always loved cars and racing and speed."
The Jenner men's adrenaline-filled weekend comes amid recent news that Bruce has been recovering from a form of skin cancer known as Basal cell carcinoma. The avid golfer was photographed with a bandage on his nose in September; he later revealed that he went under the knife to remove the affected areas.
"I have been struggling with this for several years and appreciate all the support and prayers while I continue to fight the battle against skin cancer," he said in a statement last month. "This has taught me to be extra vigilant when out in the sun and I encourage others to get regular checkups and always wear sunscreen."
